Creating Wordpress Themes Made Easy
I came arcoss this on the net and found it interesting ndtought you might want to try it and play around with it to see if you like it.For those who may me interested in Word Press Themes... I don’t know about you, but I’ve been working with WordPress for many, many years, and have greatly admired people who can create wonderful WordPress themes. The most I can do is log into the WordPress admin area and scroll through the different available themes, download one and click “activate”. Badda Bing. Job done. But the free themes always seemed to require customization which was just beyond my simplistic editing (hacking) know-how. I’ve always wondered how the heck people design wonderful-looking themes… are they graphic-design geniuses, or what?Well, it turns out that you can create great-looking WordPress themes without knowing a lick of CSS, HTML or the latest DOCTYPES. Phew, what a relief, eh?
I recently stumbled across a cool piece of software which lets you create WordPress-friendly themes while customizing things like background graphics, header graphics, number of columns, column width, font size, font type, font color, table spacing and TONS more, all within the “sandbox” of the software. When you’re happy with the look of your theme, you simply export it, upload it to your WordPress “theme” directory and activate it within your WordPress admin area. It was so easy, I had a theme I was 100% happy with uploaded to my blog in about 30 minutes, starting from knowing nothing about theme design or the software.
The software is called Artisteer. I used it to make the theme currently at my 3DTV reviewer blog.
You can download Artisteer and play with it for free (like I did), but any themes you create will carry watermarks. To nuke the watermark, you have to buy the software. For me, it was a no-brainer. I loved the theme I created, and Artisteer saved me having to either learn CSS and WordPress theme design or pay a professional each time I wanted a new theme. With Artisteer I can create as many as I like, for just the one-time registration fee.
To download the Artisteer free trial for yourself, Be sure to Search for Artisteer Word Press Theme Generator. Click Here By Guy 3DTV Submitted by Lilyruth

China clarifies web filter plans

The cartoon Green Dam Girl has been used to mock the filtering plan.
Protests have forced China to clarify whether net-filtering software has to be used on every new PC.
From July, every PC sold in China was supposed to be supplied with the Green Dam Youth Escort software.
The software was created to stop people looking at "offensive" content such as pornographic or violent websites.
But widespread disapproval inside China, legal challenges and overseas criticism have forced the Chinese government to clarify its policy.
"The use of this software is not compulsory," an official with China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) told the AP news wire.
The state agency that created Green Dam has said it was possible to uninstall the program. But it was unclear whether those that did so would face prosecution.
In its ruling this week, China said anyone removing or refusing to use it would not face official sanctions.
Green Dam busters
The change comes thanks to growing criticism from Chinese people about Green Dam. A legal challenge has been filed to MIIT demanding a public debate on the legitimacy of making computer firms put the software on PCs.
Petitions calling for Green Dam to be scrapped have circulated widely and analysis shows that it does a piecemeal job of stopping pornographic sites and inadvertently blocks sites dealing with sexual health issues.
A website set up to challenge Green Dam has gathered tens of thousands of comments from those who say the filtering system is crude and blocks many legitimate sites.
The China Daily newspaper, which typically backs the government, has written stories critical of the filtering policy and reported that many PC makers were refusing to install it.
Some critics have drawn a manga-style cartoon of Green Dam Girl to mock the software's aims.
China has the largest net-using population in the world and many have turned to the web to publicise issues such as corruption that would otherwise go unreported.
Tests carried out on Green Dam outside China also showed that it left PCs open to many different security risks.
Analysis by Scott Wolchok, Randy Yao, and J. Alex Halderman at the University of Michigan found weaknesses in the URL, text and image filtering system and vulnerabilities in the software that makes machines susceptible to being hijacked.
"Green Dam makes frequent use of unsafe and outdated programming practices that likely introduce numerous other vulnerabilities," they wrote in a paper placed online. Be Sure to Leave Your Comments!

When should you upgrade your web browser
Apple made a public beta of its Safari 4 browser available today for both OS X and Windows systems, hot on the heels of Google’s Chrome browser and Microsoft’s Internet Explorer 8 beta. Each one promises new and different features along with faster performance on the Web, just in case you have to get your gossip sites up and running that much quicker. So when should you commit to an upgraded browser?
It all depends on how you use your web browser. If you’re at work and you rely on a specific browser to do business, it’s best to wait until an official version has been released. Sometimes, software will be written for a specific browser version, and you need to keep that around until upgrades have been made to the program or the browser (or both) to make sure it works. Even if you do choose to update it, know that “beta” means that you could still encounter problems or glitches. The creator might want to hear about the problems you’re having, but that doesn’t guarantee a fix. Beta versions are for those who don’t might taking a little risk when it means having the latest software. If you feel comfortable there, have at it. If not, wait for the all-clear of the official version before you make the upgrade. Be Sure to Leave Your Comments!
