So Happy New Year all my lovely readers. I hope you all had a long and enjoyable weekend. I certainly did.
So I don't usually do personal posts, especially when I promised myself this blog would focus specifically on the video games I've played and thought about, but meh, it's this new year and I've got stuff to say that is games-related and also in some ways personal-related.

First of all, Ubisoft is in Singapore. This may be new news to some, old news to others, but whatever it is, I WANT IN.
And to learn that much of Assassin's Creed 2 was developed here shows that Singapore is pretty big in the world of games development. Not to mention, Crytek chose Singapore for its destination for a conference of games not so long ago. And don't forget, World Cyber Games is held here every so often. At least the country is gaining a larger and better rep than dem folk down unda' who instead of progressing video games, regress with their whole censorship dumbness.
So anyway, with a major games studio in such close proximity to me, my dream of working in the games industry is becoming ever increasingly apparent. But I'm going to need some technical experience - just having academic or theoretical knowledge to back up passion isn't enough. Anyone can study games, but not everyone can understand how to build them properly. So that is what I shall be learning in my last 6 months before graduating. Game design, here I come.

I know I blog only about PC games, but I REALLY want a PS3. I'm a big fan of Final Fantasy, and everything about it, but the problem is, after Final Fantasy 9, I haven't had an opportunity to play any FF titles. I didn't own a PS2 either. With the recent release of Final Fantasy XIII, there is no way in hell I'm going to miss out on it. It just looks so magnificent. Alas, PS3's are so damn expensive.
Square Enix really should port FF games for the PC!!!!
Plus, now all game devs are releasing first for consoles then only PCs. why!?! WHY?!?! (Okay, I know why, I'm just crying out in anguish). Plus, Uncharted 2 is a PS3-only title. Sad-face.

I've played much Modern Warfare 2 and it doesn't look like my interest in it is going to wane anytime soon. And I can lose interest in a game REALLY quickly. But that just goes to show how damn awesome MW2's multiplayer is.

Games I am hotly anticipating in the coming months?
Mass Effect 2 on Jan 29th. The first sucked, here's to hoping the second doesn't.
Bioshock 2 on Feb 2nd. The first was awesome, but can 2k Games sustain interest by returning us to same ol' Rapture a second time round?
AvP reboot on Feb 19th. Three-way multiplayer deathmatch just sounds too epic.
Splinter Cell: Conviction on Feb 26th. The Luc Besson movie Taken channeled into video game. What more could you ask for?
And Assassin's Creed 2, Mafia 2, and Just Cause 2 sometime soon!!!! All those 2s!!!!

Also been playing a bit of Canabalt. Seriously, this game is thoroughly wacked. In my opinion, it's like Mirror's Edge distilled to its finest parts - the escape. Super furious fast paced action with just a single button. It induces the "just-one-more-try" tic in your brain.
Anyway, that's it for now with my PERSONAL post. Will return to talking about games and only games next post onwards.
Until then, be happy and play lots of games (:
