More titillating Left 4 Dead 2 news, folks.
In this edition, Valve has announced that the cricket bat will be joining the current line up of melee weapons to get your head-smacking, limbs-dismembering game on.
Needless to say, some people, myself included are a little wary at the inclusion of melee weapons in the Left 4 Dead sequel. Sure, on paper, it sounds very cool and very zombie-movie inspired to be able to pick up a chainsaw or katana and start chopping at zombies gruesomely. But Left 4 Dead is no Dawn of the Dead, in that it is a fast pace action game in contrast to the shambling, slowness of the movie. If ammo for firearms will be prominent throughout the maps, wouldn't people be more inclined to shoot zombies rather than go toe-to-toe?
Unless Valve were to make ammo more scarce so as to force people to use melee weapons, I don't see much point in it. Not to mention no one wants to hit a Tank on the head with a baseball bat without incurring its one-hit-kill wrath right?
Oh well, let's not think too hard about it and put our trust in the good folk at Valve. And remember folks, the game is out November 20th 2009.
